Rootkitten

A rootkitten in hanyo town was an undercover Survivor and secret agent working against the hanyos to get as many people as they could out of hanyo town and into the radiopoisoned desert where they could set up or join a survivarium. Rootkittens would make contact with likely prospects for Survivorhood and share information about Antisense with them. Once the prospectice Sirvivor had been instructed sufficiently, their rootkitten would give them Puzzle One. This contained the Rootkit Test which would determine how ready the prospective Survivor was to begin her escape from hanyo town. Rootkittens would also use their cover identities to prevent and obstruct hanyo chases of escapees, to steal resources for survivariums and conceal the theft, and to move people covertly to places of safety.

Many rootkittens were caught and tortured by the Bully Boys of the hanyos. When that happened, they would record their last words before execution on tiny flash drives and flush them down the toilet or drain in their prison. These would be retrieved by rootkitten sewage workers and shipped to a survivarium. In Florian times these flash drives were revered artefacts in the archives of Zigsa's Nest.
