Ramdhun

The Ramdhun corporation ruled South and Southeast Asia, the China Coast and the Pacific Rim barring North America and the California Islands. Its headquarters were at New Singapore, the world's first privately-run nation. In 2078 on the death of Chip Takanashi it acquired Japan by hostile takeover of Shigenobu corp, only to nuke Tokyo in 2079. It was founded and run by the Vaghela family.

Founding and Early years

The Vaghela family seem to have come to Singapore in the late twentieth century consequent to the opening up of markets post-1991. However, for the first twenty or so years they kept a low profile. Around 2010 Swastik Vaghela returned from the Harvard Business School with a degree in business management and began an aggressive programme of mergers and acquisitions. He styled himself the Indian Elon Musk but also said, 'Singapore is not a nation. It is an idea, and here all nationalities must dissolve into the one true nation of commerce.' By now he had acquired a news channel, the Potent News Network, had set up his biggest moneyspinner Ramdhun Wellness, and was 'scouting for talent' from all around the world. He began work on a number of projects, including Ramdhun Paradise, an experimental floating city.

In 2023 'Old' Singapore was destroyed by an earthquake and tidal wave. Ironically Ramdhun had used new tech to predict the earthquake and had warned its shareholders to take to their luxury yachts. However, they had underestimated the probable extent of the damage. Singapore was no longer a viable city, making it the first capital to fall to climate change. The wealthy now congregated around Ramdhun Paradise and were allowed to attach their boats to the mothership. Over the next few month seven cruise ships, four aircraft carriers and a host of other vessels were added, and in 2024 Vaghela declared this new entity to be New Singapore, the first privately-run nation in the history of the world.
