Comet Strike

The Comet Strike of 2123 was the event that effectively ended the Robot Wars and the rule of the hanyos.

Impact

In 2123, the Swift Tuttle Comet was due to make a close pass to Earth. By then, no humans lived on teh surface of the planet. The Survivors were all underground in their survivariums, hiding from the hanyo war machines as the Robot Wars raged above their heads. The hanyos were either in the space hotels run by the various corporations or hidden away in their luxury bunkers. The hanyos in the space hotels were excited about the light show they were about to witness, and kept several instruments and cameras trained on the Comet. They got more than they bargained for. A piece of the Comet broke off and hit the Earth in Northwestern USA, setting off the Yellowstone Supervolcano and plunging the Earth into the Zero Dark, the great dismay of the watchers.
