There are ten karma colours and two karma flavours. Together they measure all the socially valuable actions a person may do.

Karma Flavours

The two flavours are silver (karma that must be repeated, like cleaning a room) and gold (karma that permanently changes things, like inventing a new aid for cleaning rooms). Silver must be periodically renewed, whereas gold is more permanent and may last life-long, or until someone comes up with a better idea. Gold karma also provides downstream silver karma, a percentage of the usfulness that others are producing from it, according to karma mills designed at the time of pushing the karma, usually by the karmatula that awarded it. Even so, if people continue to use your idea, your gold will stay alive though it may yield progressively less downstream karma.

The Colours

  1. Pink. This is the physical karma, that is, anything to do with biomass. In the survivariums, biomass was a precious resource, so even taking a dump was a valuable contribution. Though all physical processes, breathing, sweating, eating, drinking, shitting, pissing, exercising for health (not art), (silver) having babies, storing one’s stem cells and eggs, making milk, dying (gold) are pink karma, but pink is usually only awarded for actions that have a voluntary component, thus breathing and sweating are grey. Babymaking attracts gold pink.
  2. Purple. This is pushed for all human contact not involving touch. Thus all forms of conversation, advice, sympathy, verbal caring, politeness, are all purple. Very relevant advice, loving words that leave a lasting impression, these attract gold purple.
  3. Violet. All arts and sports, recreations, from the most abstract to the most concrete, music to wrestling. Dancers and players may pull pink along with violet for their work.
  4. Indigo. Exploration and discovery of spaces, mental and physical. Pioneering new spaces gets gold.
  5. Blue. All arts of touch, soothing, massage, healing, pleasuring, sex. Gold or silver at user’s discretion.
  6. Green. Looking after living things. Routine maintenance gets silver. Planting new trees, birthing new animals gets gold.
  7. Yellow. This is invention, both of things and ideas. Studying prior arts gets silver, new art gets gold.
  8. Orange. This is responding to appeals for help, saving from danger, dealing with crisis. Changing things to be permanently safer gets gold orange.
  9. Red. This is cleanup, correction, editing, tidying away, putting things in place, doing things right, following the rules.
  10. White. The karma of building karma. All service on karmatulas, all new rules, all new findings, confirmed guesses, pull white.
